About The Position

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that subsea umbilical manufacturing processes, materials, and finished products conform to API 17E, ISO 13628- 5, and customer requirements. This role encompasses the entire umbilical production lifecycle, including termination, welding, traceability, coatings (if applicable), System integration testing, seafastening, and distribution equipment assembly. The QC Inspector serves as the frontline authority for inspection, documentation, and compliance verification, ensuring all activities are executed to meet international quality standards, regulatory codes, and company procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in subsea manufacturing, oil & gas, or related heavy industry

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with umbilical manufacturing
  • Experience with NDT inspection methods (VT, RT, UT, PT, MT)
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

Responsibilities

  • Verify that umbilical components are released, have been properly stored, and are fit for purpose per the approved plans.
  • Inspect and document umbilical component assembly during manufacturing, ensuring compliance with design drawings, tolerances, and sequencing requirements.
  • Conduct dimensional checks and perform visual inspections for defects (voids, inclusions, surface cracks).
  • Ensure compliance with project traceability requirements.
  • Perform in-process checks of welding activities on steel tubes/rod and wire rope elements in accordance with qualified WPS/WPQR.
  • Verify weld parameter compliance (automatic), welder qualifications, and consumable control.
  • Perform in-process checks of cable splices during manufacturing, and electrical tests at the completion of the manufacturing process.
  • Verify that identification markings (e.g., drum numbers, length marks, customer IDs) meet project specifications and API 17E requirements.
  • Audit documentation for accuracy and completeness in the Manufacturing Binders
  • Complete inspection reports, NCRs, and deviation requests in alignment with company procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, API Q1, and client-specific QA/QC requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact during client and third-party inspections
