About The Position

To inspect parts for defects or out of tolerance to specifications. Performs various testing methods to insure product quality meets performance requirements. Sets up and runs sorting equipment to help remove various defects. Mixes chemicals for various chemical testing.

Requirements

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Visual acuity to read micrometers, visually inspect small parts.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., 10-20 times throughout an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to bend forward, squatting, stretching forward as needed.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Knowledge of Pin Gages, Thread Gages, O.D. Micrometer, Depth Micrometers, Blade Micrometers, Flange Micrometer, Spline Micrometer, Calipers, Hex Gages, Barrel Gages, Threaded Ring Gages, Tri-Rolls, Dial Indicators, Optical Comparators, Recess gages, Taper Gages, Routers, Blue Prints.
  • Knowledge of Copper Sulfate Testing, Lead Acetate Testing.
  • Knowledge of Hardness Testing, Solderibility Testing, Torque Testing.
  • Good working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
  • General computer usage primarily using JDE and MicrosoftÒ Excel programs.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs the job of Inspector "A" in its entirety as assigned.
  • Inspects completed parts with a minimum of supervision to stated specifications and standards.
  • Each inspection must be completed to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Capable of performing various dimensional inspections using specified tools and blueprints.
  • Capable of performing Copper Sulfate Testing, Lead Acetate Testing.
  • Capable of performing Hardness Testing, Solderibility Testing, Torque Testing.
  • Capable of placing non-conforming product in the appropriate area.
  • Records the incoming inspections as required by the work instructions.
  • Moves orders after inspection functions are performed to the next appropriate location as designated on the router.
  • Goes from machine to machine in designated areas in performance of duties.
  • Takes a sample of finished parts and inspects for conformance to stated standards.
  • Uses blue prints, micrometers, etc. as required.
  • Is capable of performing these actions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Has a good understanding of acceptable quality standards and needs limited supervision from the foreperson.
  • Records results of each inspection of samples on proper forms.
  • Has a good working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and can communicate these to operators.
  • Detects error in blueprint specifications or routers and reports unusual quality problems to foreperson.
  • Confers with foreperson when needed to resolve problems with manufacturing that develops through normal execution of duties.
  • Maintains micrometers and gauges in proper working condition, re-calibrating or replacing as required.
  • Fills out log sheets as required by work instructions.
  • Collaborates with operators, team leaders, manufacturing supervisor, other inspectors, Q.C. foreperson, and Quality Manager to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the work at hand.
  • General computer usage primarily using JDE and MicrosoftÒ Excel programs.
  • Observes all safety regulations in all duties.
  • Performs other duties as required.
