About The Position

Inspects finished goods, forged bars, rings and/or rough machined parts, to ensure conformance to specifications and performing the following duties: Reads blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions. Compares surface finish of workpiece to finish on set of standard blocks making fingertip touch comparison to ensure production of specified surface finish. Measures dimensions such as length, height, and distance, between reference points to ensure product meets specifications. Reports findings to Quality/Inspection Managers and, if necessary, write Inspection Deviation Report (IDR) if parts are not in conformance. Sets up and tries out inspection equipment to ensure accuracy. Substitutes known values such as dimensions from blueprints into standard formulas and solves for unknown quantities to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints. Sets up stamper and identification tools to utilize for marking parts Uses forklifts and cranes to move heavy parts. May perform functions to operate romer arms Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees within the company.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experienced in the use of hand tools (micrometer, calipers and gages).
  • Excellent knowledge of blueprints, datums, tooling parts, etc.
  • Good legible handwriting.
  • Intermediate mathematical background.
