About The Position

Collins Aerospace is hiring a Quality Inspector III to ensure quality products are delivered to aerospace customers. The role performs conformity inspections and coordinates dispositions for non-conforming products in compliance with AS9100. This is an onsite, second-shift position in Lenexa, Kansas, with scheduled hours Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The inspector uses prescribed methods, operations, setups, and specifications to inspect incoming, in-process, and completed products against engineering requirements and quality specifications. The position uses measuring devices, testing equipment, computer systems, and statistical control processes for inspections, including in-process, final bench, and product-feature inspections. Duties also include inspecting products on the production floor and online, performing First Article and conformity inspections, raising non-conformance notifications, quarantining non-conforming products, and providing dispositions when authorized. The role includes oversight and inspection of parts, materials, and processes. The successful candidate will learn advanced problem-solving tools and techniques through the company’s CORE operating system. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program or contract. No security clearance is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (such as a U.S. GED), or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship is required to access information under the program or contract.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in an environment governed by an AS9100 Quality Management System.
Detail orientation, good communication skills, and good recordkeeping skills.
Product inspection experience or a technical background.
SAP knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

Inspect arriving, in-process, and completed products using predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to verify conformance to engineering requirements and quality specifications.
Use measuring devices, testing equipment, computer systems, and statistical control processes to perform in-process, final bench, product-feature, and other inspection tasks.
Inspect products on the production floor and online.
Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and conformity inspections.
Raise non-conformance notifications and quarantine non-conforming products.
Provide dispositions for non-conforming products when authorized.
Provide oversight and inspection of parts, materials, and processes.
