The Defense Quality Inspector is responsible for earning a certification from the Customer in Military Shipbuilding for the US Navy, which is a 14-to-18-month internal training process involving hands-on experience and oversight. Once certified, the inspector will approve Level One/CM1 Purchase Orders (POs) to suppliers by reviewing Customer requirements and coded notes on the Customer Contract and comparing them to the Supplier PO to ensure full and correct flow-down of requirements. This process may involve reading various specifications, amendments, and references. After an order is assigned, the inspector processes the package (hardware and paperwork) from inventory to their workstation. They review the Supplier Purchase Order against the software package contents provided by the supplier. If discrepancies arise, the Inspector will review the Customer Contract to assess if the nonconformance is from the supplier or internal, and will work with internal resources or the supplier to correct the software. Once the package is found complete and correct, the inspector will inspect the product according to an inspection plan, which may require 100% sampling. Nonconforming hardware will be put on hold. Upon determining everything is in compliance, the inspector will send the product to shipping. The role is on-site at the Roanoke, VA location, with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 3:00pm.
