About The Position

The Quality Inspector 2 uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to visually inspect in-process and completed products. This includes inspecting electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds. The role involves using various measuring devices, accepting, rejecting, or reworking defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Inspectors work from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawings, inspection instructions, and checklists. They may also monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and perform line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years additional education and/or related experience
  • Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 1 year of related experience
  • May require certification
  • Resume must be attached

Nice To Haves

  • Able to read a blueprint
  • Able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions
  • Able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces
  • Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb
  • Be available to travel when needed
  • 2 years prior experience in one of the major shipbuilding crafts: Pipe, Shipfitting, Welding, Electrical, Sheetmetal, Machinery, Joiner or a valid NACE certification for Coatings
