The Quality Inspection Supervisor is responsible for product quality review of electrical and mechanical inspections at our site in Vandalia, OH. This role requires understanding of inspection gaging and quality tools, as well as a strong understanding of different manufacturing processes. In addition, managing a team of 15 hourly Production Inspectors in a union environment. In this role, you will monitor productivity and effectivity of the inspection team. You will serve as direct liaison between production and inspection within a matrixed organization. Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton-known widely as the birthplace of aviation-where the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 27 acres right off Interstate 75. At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of aerospace customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university (or High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years in a quality role with supervisory responsibilities)
  • Minimum of 3 years in a quality role
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with supervisory responsibilities
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
  • Ability and willingness to sit on-site at the Vandalia, OH facility 5 days per week.
  • This role supports multiple shifts, and although first shift focused, occasional off shift support will be required.
  • Start time for this role is 6:00am eastern with an end time of 3:00pm eastern (work hours may vary based on business needs)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen, Hoshin Kanri).
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, and control plans.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage performance, and drive results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating system.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the inspection team's hours, priorities, and area support as needed.
  • Allocate and deploy resources in inspection areas to ensure effectivity and productivity.
  • Manage inspection and process controls including inspection plans, first article inspections, gage R&R, quality plans, GD&T, etc.
  • Track the need for new gaging, enhanced functional tooling, and additional resources.
  • Assist in the review and closure of non-conformances.
  • Work with cross functional teams to drive inspection improvements by monitoring metrics, defining problems, working projects, and communicating the results.
  • Mentor inspection personnel & partner with the quality engineering team to expand the inspection team's quality knowledge; managing the inspection training and competency requirements.
