About The Position

The QI Coordinator, Trauma Services is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the performance in the trauma program and works closely with the multi-disciplinary health care team to identify opportunities for improvement. The coordinator also assists with some data entry in the Medical Center Trauma Registry, data retrieval and collection, data analysis, and presentation of data both internally and externally. Must be comfortable with both interpreting the clinical care provided to trauma patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • 5 or more years’ nursing experience in surgical care, critical care, and/or an emergency department, with increasing responsibility and interest in trauma care.
  • RN in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance in the trauma program.
  • Working closely with the multi-disciplinary health care team to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assisting with data entry in the Medical Center Trauma Registry.
  • Data retrieval and collection.
  • Data analysis.
  • Presentation of data both internally and externally.
  • Interpreting the clinical care provided to trauma patients.

  • Attending and participating in hospitalists staff meetings.
  • Contributing to the smooth operation of the Inpatient Medicine Specialists Department.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Establishing and maintaining close contact with primary care providers and their nursing staff regarding their inpatients being serviced by the Inpatient Medicine Specialists team.
  • Analyzing and managing reporting of data.
  • Completing quality reviews or reports at the direction of the director.
  • Identifying areas for further investigation and need for further 'drill down' of data.
  • Preparing reports to assist with accreditation of various initiatives/recognition programs, such as PCMH, Patient Safety, etc.
  • Designing and maintaining organization-wide quality scorecards.
  • Preparing Quality Committee reports including graphs, summary level data on all quality initiatives.
  • Maintaining appropriate databases and reporting structures/media.
  • Effectively communicating with physicians, staff, and peers using all mediums.
  • Implementing applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and the provision of health care.
  • Researching patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve work flow.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Participating in departmental Quality Improvement projects.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of intradepartmental Quality Improvement and the projects/indicators utilized to measure.
  • Actively participating in the collection of data.
  • Interpreting and documenting data.
  • Analyzing outcomes, assisting director with formulation and implementation of revisions of policy and practice to achieve desired goals.
  • Participating in assigned Hospital committees/meetings and projects.
