The Quality Improvement Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of Quality. The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible to support the Quality Improvement department in facilitation of Quality Review Committees. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to review and abstraction of cardiovascular and thoracic data registries to ensure compliance as well as coordination of The Joint Commission Chest Pain accreditation. The QI Coordinator, along with the Quality Improvement department and Executive Director of Quality Improvement coordinate and facilitate Review Committees, maintaining agendas, minutes, and follow up for each Committee. Responsible for sending timely meeting invites, reminders, and copies of documents for committee meeting review. Case Reviews Assists with Department functions as needed. responsible for the accurate, complete, and timely review and abstraction of various cardiovascular and thoracic data registries from our client’s medical records. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to function well under timeline commitments based on registry deadlines. Responsible for client communications as well general gratification with our services. Position will include TJC Chest Pain accreditation and abstraction, various cardiac registries such as Cath PCI Registry, STS Registry, and ICD Registries along with any additional registries the organization chooses to participate in. Devises and monitors reports to identify trends and issues and works with appropriate parties to develop effective solutions. Coordinate QI meetings and present data. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
  • Electronic Health Record experience.
  • CPHQ certification required or obtained within 1 year of hire date.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
  • Abstract crucial medical data for reporting key quality measures.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Must be reliable, responsible and dependable with fulfilling obligations.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Commitment and reliability, superb communication and responsiveness, computer literacy, experience with Excel, web-browsers and web-based applications, email, electronic health records and current with abstraction/coding rules, manuals and guidelines.
  • Maintaining competency of data definitions and reporting guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Cardiac anatomy and disease processes.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Be flexible enough to twist, bend and lift files from one location to another.
  • Able to work under a fast paced environment, work independently, capable of making sound decisions, be detailed oriented, alert and self-motivated.
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program.
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Credential or training related to abstraction or coding preferred.
  • Previous work with National Cardiovascular Data Registry(NCDR), Society of Thoracic Surgeons Registry(STS) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with The Joint Commission Chest pain accreditation and other regulatory experience preferred.
