About The Position

This role involves executing specific inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities on-site. The inspector is responsible for issuing relevant Quality Records and non-conformance reports when necessary. Key duties include checking cable laying and identification, performing punch-listing, inspecting various electrical components like power transformers, switchboards, and lighting systems, and conducting visual inspections, dimensional tests, and rating/material checks for connections. The position also requires witnessing continuity and insulation resistance tests, checking instrument installations, performing functional instrument tests, inspecting fiber optic cables, and testing communication functionalities. Additionally, the inspector will verify special processes and worker qualifications, witness tests, controls, and inspections, and ensure conformity with the Quality Control Plan, managing all related documentation.

Requirements

  • Previous construction experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Previous exposure to high voltage electrical installation including switchgear and electric drives.
  • Exposure to Hazardous Area installations.
  • Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.
  • Instrument calibrations including ultrasonic flow meter, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters etc.
  • A working knowledge of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice, and regulations/legislation relating to electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package.
  • Familiar with other computer packages (e.g. MS Project, Outlook, Bluebeam, etc.).
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Ability to work with others – team player.
  • Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Executes specific inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities on site.
  • Issues relevant Quality Records and writes and sends non-conformance reports to the QC Supervisor when necessary.
  • Checks cable laying and cable identification.
  • Performs punch-listing operations.
  • Checks power transformers, switchboard, accumulator battery, sockets outlet, and lighting system.
  • Performs visual inspections, dimensional tests, and checks rating and material for connection.
  • Witnesses tests of continuity and insulation resistance.
  • Checks installation of instruments.
  • Performs functional tests on instruments.
  • Checks fiber optic cable.
  • Performs tests on communication functionalities.
  • Verifies special processes and the relevant workers’ qualifications.
  • Witnesses the tests, controls, and inspections carried out.
  • Checks conformity with the Quality Control Plan, obtains relevant documentation, verifies procedures and equipment to be used in tests, controls, and inspections, and manages documents certifying tests, controls, and inspections.
