About The Position

Alsum Farms & Produce Inc., a grower, packer, and shipper of potatoes and onions located in Friesland, Wisconsin, is hiring full-time Quality Graders. The role involves grading, sorting, and classifying onions or potatoes by size, weight, color, and condition. Education and prior experience are not required. Quality Graders sort acceptable products from inferior or defective products and place items in the proper bins for further processing. They maintain a clean workspace by following the master sanitation schedule and perform other related duties as assigned. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work involves prolonged standing and walking, repetitive movements, manual dexterity, exposure to airborne particles or fumes, climbing stairs to access the grading line, and occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds. Safety glasses and hearing protection must be worn in designated areas.

Requirements

Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow directions from a supervisor.
Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software.
Good eyesight to grade potatoes to the best of the employee’s ability.
Ability to remain alert and attentive.
Ability to perform prolonged standing and walking, repetitive movements, and tasks requiring good manual dexterity.
Ability to climb stairs throughout the day to access the grading line.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas.
