A day in the life… As a Quality Food Safety Intern , you will be provided meaningful work assignments designed to provide perspective and practical work experience highlighting what you would do in a similar role following completion of your degree and working at the company on a regular, fulltime basis. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel weekly to the Iola or Abilene, Kansas Russell Stover manufacturing plant as required for the project.

Responsibilities

  • Support the oversight of document management processes, helping to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of food safety and quality programs, policies and procedures
  • Assist with data analysis and reporting related to food safety and quality metrics
  • Participate in projects such as Food Safety Plan review, Food Safety Culture initiatives, and training improvements
  • Visit the Iola and Abilene, Kansas, Russell Stover manufacturing plant at least two days a week, as needed, to support plant projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and ensure compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety and quality requirements
  • Stay informed on industry trends and updates in food safety and quality regulations
  • Take on additional projects and tasks as needed to support the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory team
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality and maintain compliance with food safety standards
  • Complete and follow FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements, ensure consumer safety, and support the plant’s food safety and quality objectives
  • Promptly report and take appropriate action on any observed or potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non-conformities by notifying the designated plant supervisor, in accordance with your role and responsibilities
  • Actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the company’s Food Safety Culture through engagement and actions aligned with your role
