Over these 10 weeks, interns will work 40 hours a week participating in impactful departmental projects that connect classroom learning to real-world corporate experience. Position Overview The Supply Chain Food Safety & Quality Assurance team, which is a sub-department within Corporate Quality Assurance, collects, reviews, and stores required supplier documentation. The impact this position has on Publix is to ensure regulatory food safety compliance, strengthen the Publix brand, and protect the Publix customer from potential product contamination, allergen cross-contact, intentional adulteration, and negative regulatory exposure. Within the department, the intern will have several responsibilities.

Requirements

  • must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May
  • must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, nutritional science or supply chain management and be a current senior, as of the program start in Summer 2026
  • completed coursework in Food Safety, Microbiology, and Food Laws and Regulations
  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • ability to handle confidential information
  • ability to demonstrate initiative and being a self-starter to plan and execute strategy
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • detail orientated with dynamic time management skills
  • intermediate knowledge of SharePoint
  • basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat

Nice To Haves

  • PCQI and SQF Practitioner certifications
  • knowledge of regulations related to product scope between FDA, USDA, CPSC, and EPA agency standards/rules such as good manufacturing practices and HACCP
  • knowledge of regulatory action such as warning letters, product detention, inspections, and notice of intended action

Responsibilities

  • support the Supply Chain team focusing on Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) supply chain programs with our private label suppliers and ingredient suppliers to our internal manufacturing plants
