About The Position

Whirlpool Corporation is a leading home appliance company focused on improving life at home. As a major U.S.-based manufacturer, the company drives innovation through its brand portfolio. Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineering Tech (Hourly) opening to join our Commercial Laundry organization. This role involves monitoring and analyzing quality data, training inspectors, performing root cause analysis, and providing leadership for problem-solving teams to reduce defects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math or Physical Science required
  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to successfully complete Black Belt Training & Shainin awareness

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze quality data to prioritize and stratify quality opportunities.
  • Train Inspectors and Technicians in tools and technology to properly inspect products.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis using advanced WCM problem solving tools for Top Quality Issues in the plant.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to problem solving teams to propose, evaluate and implement systemic approaches that reduce the risk of creating and/or releasing defects per WCM methodologies.
  • Monitor Key Process Indicators, creating and editing databases & form tools if required, to improve quality data collection.
  • Create inspection & test standards and instruct inspectors, informing them if their work does not meet standard.
  • Create effective data visualization and perform statistical analysis to prioritize and stratify key quality problems.
  • Lead teams using a disciplined data-driven approach to find root causes and determine corrective actions with a focus on preventive and proactive approaches.
  • Create effective reporting for the plant team and communicate with leadership when help is needed.
  • Manage supplier quality issues using SAP and CAPA system.
  • Support cost and quality projects by providing data and evaluation.
  • Evaluate parts and products for Non-conformances.
  • Report issues with accuracy of BOMs.
  • Track/Understand all CN's.
  • Understand and support the APQP process as needed.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers & operations concerning APQP issues.
  • Perform fit / function evaluations.
  • Use all designated safety equipment, observe all safety rules, and follow recognized rules of safe practice.
