About The Position

L3Harris is looking for a Quality Engineer to join its operations organization in Clifton, New Jersey. This role works independently and requires a proven ability to drive FRB/MRB activities to closure. The specialist will be responsible for generating relevant metrics and presenting them to internal and external customers. This position provides guidance, coaching, and training to other employees, and manages complex projects involving delegation and review of work products. The role involves communication within and outside of the function or business area, including external parties like customers and vendors. A strong focus on continuous improvement and Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) execution is expected. The specialist will collaborate with Program Management, OMPs, and Quality Leadership to report status and implement process improvements, and partner with other functions to achieve efficient issue resolution without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Proven track record of driving significant quality improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient with quality engineering software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to Obtain Security Clearance upon hire
  • Ability to Obtain Security Clearance for role

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge or Certifications in IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620 Workmanship Standards.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or Six Sigma Black Belt are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze defect data and implement data driven corrective actions
  • Drive continued improvement of the quality system and manufacturing processes
  • Present corrective actions and process improvements to internal and external audiences
  • Review, interpret, and ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, engineering drawings, customer contract requirements, and product test procedures
  • Lead containment of nonconforming material and partner with Supplier Quality Engineering to initiate RTV for root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Interface within the quality engineering team and across the various functions within their assigned program
  • Revise and improve manufacturing work instructions resulting in measurable impact
  • Initiate and review engineering design changes
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering in defect dispositioning of hardware and provide corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Provide return to print engineering dispositions for non-conforming product
  • Manage and coordinate material review board (MRB) dispositions for non-conforming product
  • Participate in bi-weekly Corrective Action Review Board (CAB)
  • Lead Quality projects in the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ)
