About The Position

Doral Corporation is a full-service Industrial Contractor supporting the Manufacturing, Industrial, Food & Beverage and Material Handling markets. We are a third-generation, family-owned and operated company delivering unbeatable service with reliable equipment, rapid response time and over 50 years of experience. The Quality / Engineering Manager owns the overall quality system, engineering support, and detailing output across all four of Doral's fabrication shops: Custom Carbon Fabrication, Custom Stainless Fabrication, Structural Steel, and Modular Fabrication. This role owns Doral's AISC certification and serves as the technical authority and Tekla PowerFab system owner for the operations group. You'll directly lead the Fabrication Designer/Detailer team and the Quality Control team across multiple shifts, partnering closely with the Shop Scheduler, Shop Foremen, Project Management, and the Director of Operations to ensure every part produced at Doral meets contract, code, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years of leadership and/or operations management experience with direct responsibility for technical and/or quality teams
  • Steel fabrication or metal manufacturing experience required; prior Quality Control or Quality Engineering experience in a fabrication environment strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working within and maintaining a formal quality management system such as AISC, ISO 9001, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of CAD/detailing platforms (Tekla Structures, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) sufficient to direct and review the detailing team's work
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, conditional formatting, and basic macros for quality reporting and ROI analysis
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld procedure specifications, quality procedures, and applicable codes

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Welding Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent shop-floor experience will be considered
  • Tekla PowerFab (formerly Tekla EPM / FabSuite) experience strongly preferred; equivalent ERP/MES experience with the ability to learn and administer these systems will be considered
  • PPAP / First-of-Kind (FOK), new product launch, and new program management experience preferred
  • AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or willingness to obtain is a plus; familiarity with AWS D1.1, D1.6, and applicable AISC code requirements expected

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Fabrication Designer/Detailer team and Quality Control Representatives working across multiple shifts
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct one-on-ones and performance reviews, and develop the technical and leadership skills of the design and QC teams
  • Own quality across all four Doral fabrication shops, establishing and continuously improving quality procedures, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria
  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and non-conformance dispositioning
  • Lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First-of-Kind (FOK) reviews for new product launches and customer programs
  • Serve as Doral's subject matter expert for AISC certification, managing the yearly external audit, bi-annual internal audits, and ongoing program maintenance
  • Maintain the AISC quality manual and supporting procedures to keep documented evidence of compliance audit-ready
  • Lead engineering projects, capital improvement initiatives, part fixture design, and tooling design across the shops
  • Develop and present ROI documentation and capital justification for new shop equipment, software, and facility purchases
  • Serve as the owner and in-house expert for Tekla PowerFab, Doral's shop ERP for production control and quality stations, including training shop personnel on its use
  • Participate in and lead weekly Level 10 meetings within Doral's EOS framework, owning Rocks, To-Dos, and Issues related to quality and engineering, and reporting KPIs on a defined cadence
