About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Quality Engineer. This role is based in Orchard Park, NY. The Quality Engineer will drive risk mitigation, quality improvement initiatives, root cause and corrective action, and lead quality engineering support for assigned Integrated Product Team (IPT) and product lines.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with 1 year of experience in quality assurance or engineering within a manufacturing environment OR An Associates degree from an accredited institution in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)with 3 years experience in quality assurance or engineering within a manufacturing environment
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee.

Familiarity with industry specifications (eg. SAE, MIL, DFAR)
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Proven experience specifying test chambers, equipment and/or performing selection and oversight of suppliers providing Test capability
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic systems

Responsibilities

Review customer’s request for quotes, contracts, and flow-down of customer contractual quality requirements to Eaton and its suppliers.
Generate inspection check lists, inspection criteria, and skip lot inspections for purchased and manufactured parts.
Plan and execute First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102.
Support failure mode avoidance activities (D/P FMEA- Design/Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
Execute all aspects of Advanced Part Quality Planning (APQP) and part approval for customers.
Process Engineering Change Orders.
Responsible for the processing and disposition of nonconforming material via the Non-Conforming Reporting system.
Analyze and trend quality data within IPT to drive preventive and corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Participate in customer return process to include failure analysis and corrective action.
Drive continuous improvement by leading root cause problem solving projects.
Maintain performance management board and participate in performance management meetings.
Create and communicate customer data packages for shipped product.
Communicate with teams, suppliers, customers, and the government regarding all quality related issues.
Act as the Eaton liaison during customer/government audits and inspections.
Responsible for ensuring environmental, health, and safety are included as part of everyday activities.
