About The Position

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our federal team at our York, PA location. This position is responsible for providing day-to-day quality engineering support, primarily supporting our machining teams (Machine Operators, Machinists, etc). This role will play an integral role in the continued growth and improvement of our Navy Systems business through achieving first pass yields, increased product flow and throughput, on-time delivery performance, and exceeding customer’s expectations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience in heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace, or a similar industry supporting machining, and welding and fabrication related teams
  • QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100.
  • Proficient in personal computer capabilities in MS Office software, Minitab or other quality data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, process capability, data analysis, measurement systems analysis, GD&T, and blueprint reading skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and proven leadership / team building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate and lead product quality, process and system improvement teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal LEAN and/or Six Sigma training
  • Experienced in CNC Machining (CNC/Manual)
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience working with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Grantley Plant.
  • Lead and participate on continuous improvement teams to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), first pass yields, increase product flow and throughput, and achieve on-time delivery performance.
  • Supports COPQ metrics and analysis for CI teams. Generates various reporting metrics for scrap and rework, and first pass yield.
  • Supports the management and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Facilitates and leads the Material Review Board.
  • Conducts measurement systems analysis, and process capability studies as required.
  • Works with customer service to address product issues, warranty or other problems.
  • Assists in the development and revisions to procedures and standard work to support the plant operation quality system.
  • Develops inspection plans used for the verification of manufactured and purchased components.
  • Performs first article dimensional reviews for both internal and externally manufactured parts.
  • Reviews and approves design, manufacturing and inspection test results for compliance with requirements.
  • Participates in the ECN process and product team meetings to resolve quality issues.
  • Conducts internal quality system process audits.
  • Assists with supplier audits, qualification and launch of new products through the APQP process and requirements.
  • Interfaces with key suppliers as required, assuring timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Participates in warranty reduction teams.
  • Conducts quality system training as required.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry codes and standards.
  • Adheres to the Company's code of conduct and business ethics standards.
