About The Position

The Quality Engineer role is responsible for maintaining Standard Operating Procedure content, supporting various business functions, and conducting internal audits throughout the tender, design, and manufacturing stages. This position also involves training on quality awareness, reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure product, process, and system conformity, and assisting with first-off sample approvals. The role actively promotes continuous improvement techniques like Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, and Measurement System Analysis, while staying current with manufacturing and engineering trends related to product quality. Responsibilities include undertaking special projects, contributing to and leading process improvement activities, writing reports, presenting progress, and planning projects. The Quality Engineer will attend meetings, communicate instructions, engage in continuous training and development, perform root cause analysis, and independently determine task approaches.

Requirements

  • PPAP
  • Set-up reduction
  • SPC & Control Plans
  • Measurement System Analysis/Gage R&R
  • Internal Audits
  • Understanding of Quality System, PPAP, APQP requirements
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Significant Characteristics (SC), customer-specific requirements and various test methods.
  • Certified Quality Engineer CQE body of knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective problem-solving skills (8D) and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read blueprint drawings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aero structures parts and United Technologies programs desirable.
  • working knowledge of solid modeling and CNC programming

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Standard Operating Procedure content and coordinate the issuing of these documents
  • Support other functional areas of the business
  • Undertake internal project and management audits during the tender, design and manufacture stages
  • Assist with training of quality awareness
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system
  • Assist with first off sample approvals
  • Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), and Measurement System Analysis
  • Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern product quality
  • Undertake special projects as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Support and lead process improvement activities
  • Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients
  • Plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
  • Undertake continuous training and development
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Independently determine approach and assigned tasks
