About The Position

The Quality Engineer will uphold the Carlex Quality Policy and maintain plant compliance with IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, as well as customer-defined quality systems and requirements. This role involves leading the development of production documentation, monitoring customer warranty data and supplier PPAP files, and overseeing process audits and finished product inspections. The Quality Engineer will also develop internal quality control standards, ensure quality systems are maintained, communicate quality issues, build relationships with customers and suppliers, and address day-to-day issues to improve product and process quality. Additionally, the role requires maintaining knowledge of government-required testing and reporting regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or another technical field required; OR High school diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant manufacturing quality experience required.
  • IATF Internal Auditor certification required.
  • 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with an undergraduate degree.
  • 8+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Recent training in Core Tools, or willingness to complete training within the first year in the position.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Total Quality concepts, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong understanding of IATF and ISO standards and their implementation within automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 manufacturing facilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required for business travel.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Advanced to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the Carlex Quality Policy.
  • Maintain plant compliance with IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, as well as customer-defined quality systems and requirements.
  • Lead the development of production documentation, including Control Plans, DVP&R, PFMEA, and Standardized Work, to PPAP requirements.
  • Monitor customer-supplied warranty data and supplier PPAP files and respond accordingly.
  • Oversee the evaluation of process audits and finished product inspections for quality and reliability.
  • In conjunction with Corporate Quality and the Quality Manager, develop internal quality control standards for the plant.
  • Ensure quality systems and procedures are maintained and effectively utilized by all associates.
  • Communicate significant quality issues throughout all levels of the company.
  • Develop and maintain partnership-style relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Work closely with plant team members to address day-to-day issues and improve product and process quality.
  • Occasionally travel to assembly plants to review products and interact with customer personnel.
  • Maintain knowledge of all government-required testing, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements under FMVSS-205, ECE R43, CCC, and other country regulations.
