About The Position

The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in driving product reliability and process improvement. This position is responsible for conducting deep-dive root cause analyses of both field-returned (RMA) and in-house failed units. By identifying failure modes, this role develops and implements corrective actions and updates all process documentation to ensure a high standard of quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher in Mechanical, Automotive, or Process Engineering.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems, such as gear trains, hydraulics, or rotating machinery.
  • Comfortable using Excel for calculations, data manipulation, and creating data visualizations.
  • Previous experience creating SOPs and managing quality documentation in a professional setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering and manufacturing environments, specifically automotive quality.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and perform autopsies on field-returned units to determine specific root cause(s) of failure, such as component fatigue or installation error.
  • Investigate units that fail internal testing or end-of-line checks to drive resolution and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Lead the development and implementation of containment strategies, countermeasures, and corrective initiatives.
  • Support the design and implementation of fixtures, instrumentation, and specialized test methods as needed.
  • Own the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related process documentation based on failure findings.
  • Work with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Clearly communicate quality findings and improvement initiatives across departments to achieve company-wide performance targets.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends and areas for process improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of corrective actions over time.
  • Utilize data manipulation and visualization tools to present quality performance to leadership.
