About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Quality Engineer for its Pottsville, PA, USA location. The company is a leader in advanced composite materials, including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs, and engineered core. The Quality Engineer will support the maintenance of the quality system, lead root cause investigations for defects, ensure best practices for new product introduction and process validation, coordinate lab testing, and assist in tool design for process inspections. This role also involves performing standard quality engineering tasks such as non-conforming material disposition, cost/trend analysis, corrective/preventive actions, MRB, process improvements, automation, inspection criteria, specification and contract review, and personnel training. Additionally, the engineer will lead and guide lean implementation initiatives, including 6S, TPM, Kaizen, Flow Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and Rapid Improvement Workshops, operating within Lean Principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, or related degree is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in production or quality or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, supplier management, internal audits, and overall troubleshooting or problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and able to work effectively with engineering, production personnel, and management.
  • Root cause investigation experience.
  • Good math and analytical skills including a working knowledge of statistical techniques (SPC, SQC, DOE).
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret written procedures and instruction and ability to understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Eligible candidates must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and/or use of six sigma methods and continuous improvement techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO and NADCAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of using 3D Modeling Software, CATIA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance of comprehensive quality system.
  • Lead and/or participate in activities associated with root cause investigation for product and process defects.
  • Ensure best practice of new product introduction and process validation.
  • Coordinate lab testing for verification and validation of raw materials.
  • Assist in tool design as needed for process inspections.
  • Perform standard quality engineering tasks including non-conforming material disposition, non-conforming cost/trend analysis, corrective/preventive action, customer/internal MRB, process improvements (includes scrap reduction), automation of systems, inspection criteria, specification and contract review, and communication to and training of personnel.
  • Lead, guide, and direct lean implementation and training initiatives, including 6S, TPM, Kaizen, Flow Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and Rapid Improvement Workshops, while operating within Lean Principles.
