About The Position

The Quality Engineer partners closely with Operations Managers and Process Engineers to drive quality related improvements as well as Quality Management System (QMS) deployment. This role is responsible for supporting the improvement of the QMS, tracking and reporting quality KPI’s, creating process maps for key manufacturing areas, implementing control plans and helping to establish a supplier quality program. Success in this role means creating and maintaining process maps, quality standards, process control plans and quality standard work document.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a Quality focused role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic MS Office, Excel, Minitab, Process mapping software.
  • 5% overnight travel and an additional 10% local travel.
  • Must have working knowledge of Minitab statistical software.
  • Must have experience using problem solving tools – 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto Charts, FMEA.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
  • Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role on a strong team dedicated to leading the cross-functional implementation of a robust QMS
  • Audit manufacturing processes that lead to improved product quality
  • Decrease the cost of poor quality through the use of industry standard problem-solving techniques
  • Utilize manufacturing data and statistical process control to improve product performance over its lifetime
  • Create process maps and control plans for large, complex manufacturing lines
  • Track critical to quality KPI’s and use the data to drive problem solving initiatives
  • Support the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System for the Duro-Last business unit.
  • Develop process maps and control plans for key manufacturing lines within the Duro-Last business unit.
  • Work with cross-functional groups to drive problem solving efforts specifically where it pertains to product quality and performance.
  • Support the adoption of a change management system for the Duro-Last business unit with a focus on reducing quality risks associated with changes to materials, process and equipment.
  • Participate in a system of continuous improvement around Duro-Last's Cost of Poor Quality by analyzing data around quality related KPI’s and implementing corrective actions.
