About The Position

The Quality Engineer will be based in Libertyville, Illinois, and report to the Senior Manager of Quality Engineering. The role maintains quality engineering programs, standards, and improvements within the organization. It develops and maintains quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products; establishes inspection, testing, evaluation, sampling, and reporting methods; and evaluates the precision and accuracy of products, production equipment, and testing facilities. The position also addresses discrepant material, returned products, corrective actions, audits, product and process qualifications, and quality-related data. It supports customer interfaces on quality issues as needed, trains employees on quality control activities, and serves as a liaison to regulatory bodies.

Requirements

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Typically requires 6 years of engineering experience in the high-technology electronics industry or a related field.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, including exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to frequency distributions, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with abstract and concrete variables.
Demonstrated operations and technical skills and understanding of Flex functional standards, policies, and procedures.
Working knowledge of functional concepts and computerized electronic test equipment and programming.
Advanced functional and technical skills, basic process skills, troubleshooting and diagnostic ability, and an overview of the test process; ability to train others.
Advanced operations, technical, people and/or process skills, and internal and external customer relationship skills.
Expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
Knowledge of multiple functional technologies, processes, industries, or functions and their interdependencies at the site.

Responsibilities

Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
Devise sampling procedures and create forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Develop and implement procedures for disposition of discrepant material and methods to assess its cost.
Direct workers measuring and testing products and tabulating data on material, product, or process quality and reliability.
Prepare training materials and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
Support Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers in customer interfaces on quality-related issues as necessary.
Ensure the availability and integrity of quality-related data, and consolidate and report quality results.
Initiate corrective action requests as needed and track them through satisfactory completion.
Assist with developing and implementing quality audits.
Develop, apply, revise, and maintain quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
Design and implement procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating product and production-equipment precision and accuracy.
Investigate reports and returned products and recommend corrective action.
Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and research equipment and facilities.
Approve product, process, and equipment qualifications.
Provide liaison to regulatory bodies.
