About The Position

KeyTronic is seeking a Quality Engineer candidate for its Oakdale, MN facility. This role is crucial for supporting Production and Engineering by eliminating rework. The Quality Engineer will also lead the internal audit process to support various quality certifications. This is achieved through data analysis, reviewing customer feedback, identifying root causes, implementing Corrective and Preventative Actions, training personnel, and supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) launches. The position involves teamwork with program managers, production personnel, and internal/external customers in a fast-paced, dynamic, and innovative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a technical field from a four-year college or university; or an Associate's degree in a technical field with 2-3 years of experience; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge
  • Statistical Process Control knowledge
  • Design of Experiments knowledge
  • Experience with Quality Management System
  • Experience using formal problem-solving methodology (Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, RCA, 5 Whys)
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read and understand customer drawings/specifications
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a wide range of individuals (customers, suppliers, management, production workers, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SMT/PTH PWA techniques
  • Automated assembly equipment programming experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of IPC-610, J-STD-001 and ISO 9001 standards or equivalent
  • Ability to understand technical procedures and government regulations is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Help with the integration of new products into production via our NPI process by anticipating technical difficulties, review of all customer requirements, identification of risks and detailed review of our electronic instructions.
  • Obtain feedback on the production floor during new production NPIs to improve processes, refine documentation, and provide training.
  • Use analytical problem-solving skills to discover the root cause of quality issues and work with relevant parties to prevent future occurrences.
  • Work closely with Production and Engineering in the evaluation/selection of new equipment and/or processes.
  • Implement Poke Yoke techniques to ensure consistently high product quality.
  • Work on 5S and lean initiatives for continuous process improvement.
  • Review quality data from Aegis (Manufacturing Database) to identify trends, problem areas, and resolve issues to reduce/eliminate rework.
  • Develop and maintain effective process controls, including statistical techniques for identified key characteristics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for manufacturing efficiencies and reduced labor costs.
  • Improve work instructions/procedures for personnel and equipment to eliminate rework.
  • Assist in training personnel and maintain training records.
  • Ensure internal audits are completed on time to improve the Quality Management System and maintain quality certifications.
  • Lead meetings with engineering, production, and management to ensure team cohesion and high-quality builds.
  • Confidently lead meetings and inspire others to take action.
  • Accept other responsibilities as assigned.
