About The Position

This position handles major projects, participates in high-level cross-functional teams, and develops inspection and testing processes and procedures. The role involves writing, editing, reviewing, and/or approving quality-controlled documents, applying strategic decision-making skills to identify performance gaps and establish goals, and planning and conducting effective benchmarking. The Quality Engineer identifies and champions state-of-the-art world-class concepts in quality business processes and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include performing reliability analyses such as MTBF calculations and FMEAs, participating in advanced quality planning (e.g., FMEA, QFD, DOE) during design, contract, and process reviews, and applying the theory of statistical variation (e.g., ANOVA, t-test, f-test). The role interfaces with sales, engineering customers, and suppliers, provides input to the contract review process, and performs diagnostic research, analyzing data, identifying trends, and suggesting corrective and preventive actions. The Quality Engineer systematically analyzes complex process problems, develops/evaluates alternative solutions, and acts as Lead Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor for supplier audits. This position also acts as a technical interface between design engineering, mechanical engineering, purchasing agent, and the supplier. The role may prepare budgets and integrates quality and statistical tools with lean manufacturing methodologies. Effective presentation of information to all levels of the company in electronic, oral, and/or written form is expected. May have supervisory responsibility.

Requirements

  • BS degree in a technical discipline with 5 years of quality-related experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with tact and sensitivity.
  • Ability to write succinctly.
  • Ability to make presentations and respond to sensitive inquiries.
  • Ability to apply advanced statistical techniques.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Strong to expert user of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal day-to-day direction.
  • Ability to manage via influence rather than title.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and manage interactions across diverse groups, e.g. engineers, sales, finance, marketing.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, and ASQ Certified Green Belt highly desirable
