About The Position

The Quality Engineer supports day-to-day quality assurance and continuous improvement activities at the assigned MBI brand/plant location, ensuring products meet Malibu Boats' quality, performance, and safety standards. This role partners with Production, Engineering, and Supplier Quality to identify, contain, and eliminate defects; supports new product introduction; and drives structured problem solving to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role
  • working knowledge of root cause analysis tools, inspection methods, and quality documentation (control plans, CFAs, FMEAs)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in marine, automotive, RV, or other high-mix/custom manufacturing
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools
  • familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems

Responsibilities

  • Analyze quality data (scrap, rework, DPU, warranty) to identify top defect drivers and lead root cause problem solving (8D, 5-Why, A3, Fishbone).
  • Develop and maintain Criteria for Acceptance documents, control plans, and inspection standards for assigned product lines/stations.
  • Lead containment and corrective action activities for in-process and field quality issues, verifying effectiveness.
  • Support and audit in-process inspection and layered process audits across assigned production areas.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality on incoming material issues affecting the production line.
  • Support material review board (MRB) and disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Support new product/model launches by developing test and inspection methods, and participating in design and process reviews.
  • Support APQP/PFMEA activities for new products and engineering changes as needed.
  • Support the plant's COPQ reduction and continuous improvement priorities in partnership with the CI Site/Brand Lead.
  • Maintain and report quality KPIs (FPY, DPU, scrap, rework hours) to plant and brand leadership.
  • Participate in daily Gemba/tiered accountability meetings.
