About The Position

Sonnax Transmission Company, as part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking a Quality Engineer. This role involves developing and maintaining quality control standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams on new product development and continuous improvement, and ensuring product performance and manufacturability. The engineer will apply problem-solving methods to product investigations, conduct technical reviews, and support supplier quality initiatives. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent, with five (5) or more years of experience in engineering, process methods, inspection, and/or Quality Control.
Experience in precision metal fabrication preferred.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies; certification is a plus.
Proficient knowledge of GD&T.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
ASQ certification or formal Quality training preferred.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001, preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Develop, document, and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality objectives; create and implement inspection criteria, inspection masters, and procedures.
Collaborate with Quality and cross-functional team members to support new product development, supplier quality initiatives, quality projects, and continuous improvement activities.
Engage early in product planning and development to identify manufacturability risks and project-related Quality risks to ensure product performance.
Apply structured problem-solving methods, including root cause analysis and corrective action, to product investigations such as customer complaints and feedback.
Conduct technical reviews and analysis of deviations, performance metrics, and nonconforming or anomalous conditions.
Identify systemic quality issues and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
Support on-site and remote assessments of Sonnax suppliers; collaborate with suppliers to improve Quality systems, delivery performance, and continuous improvement plans.
Analyze performance data, identify trends, and initiate improvement actions for key Quality metrics.
Interface with internal stakeholders and supplier partners to support procurement of materials, products, and services that meet Quality and customer requirements.
Provide daily technical support to inspection and testing personnel to ensure accuracy, consistency, and technical integrity of Quality activities.
