Our ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity and demonstrates problem-solving leadership with limited oversight! This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Defense Production Facility in Concord, North Carlina on a full-time basis (shift is four 10's, Monday - Thursday).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area.
  • Proficient in reading part drawings and interpretation of part measurement.

  • Proficiency and knowledge of the elements of the GM Quality System / GMS BIQ and of the Quality Launch Plan.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of the requirements in the Global Quality Manual.
  • Ability to coach, teach and audit elements of GM Quality Manual and GMS BIQ Principle and Elements.
  • Managerial Courage to provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to Plant Staffs / Executive Leadership in a subtle and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computer software as it pertains to quality engineering.
  • Knowledge of design tolerances and gauge function.
  • Understanding of supplier quality standards.
  • Engineering or quality background.
  • Knowledge of GMS principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support vehicle engineering in the Implementation of the Quality Requirements.
  • Monitor consistency to Global Metric Definitions and Performance.
  • Maintain documentation of Launch Manufacturing Quality Readiness Reviews.
  • Actively participate in Plant Quality Manager Meetings & Launch Quality Manager Meetings.
  • Manage projects as requested from Quality Shop Director.
  • Interact with Production and Engineering teams to identify and implement solutions to issues impacting Vehicle Assembly Plant and final customer.
  • Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product.
  • Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to affected team/s.
  • Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
  • Validate supplier scrap.
  • Work with SPPS process on supplier related issued.
  • Support the PTR Process by running PTR's and evaluating impact on the product / function.
  • Support launch activities of new products.
  • Support the implementation and effective adherence to all elements within GMS & IATF.
  • Maintain updates to Quality Requirements.
  • Maintain Quality Requirement deviations from plants.
  • Maintain Cost of Quality reports by Plant.
  • Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition, technical mentorship on complex problems, and regular updates on progress.
  • Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable.
