About The Position

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for interpreting design engineering data and customer requirements to define quality plans. This role involves researching and documenting quality improvements, providing technical support for non-conformance reports, and solving shop floor problems with a focus on root cause analysis and process correction. The position also includes developing procedures, investigating special projects for productivity and quality enhancements, and supporting customer interfaces on quality-related issues. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will facilitate cross-functional investigations, analyze reports, train on new procedures, maintain quality records, generate contract data packages, and statistically track non-conformance. A key part of the role involves reviewing and approving engineering drawings and verifying pressure vessel calculations to ensure compliance with ASME codes and customer specifications.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, IE, ME or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality assurance or Engineering/Design.
  • Working knowledge of recognized standards and codes such as ASME, API, ASTM, and NACE.
  • Solid organization, problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, leadership, and team-oriented skills are essential to manage multiple projects.
  • Requires technical knowledge of the basics of manufacturing, engineering and quality assurance.
  • Internal and external Auditing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret Design Engineering data (including blueprints, Bills of Material, Specs) and Customer requirements. Define ITP/ quality plans that may be required for manufacturing, sourcing or customer contracts.
  • Research and document quality improvements, cost-effective methods and process improvements.
  • Provide daily technical support to the total organization through the disposition of Quality Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's) and solving of shop floor problems with the primary focus on identification of root causes and correction of the process.
  • Corrective/preventive actions on internal and customer related issues.
  • Develop procedures, work instructions and forms necessary to comply with the quality system.
  • Investigate and implement special project assignments involving productivity and quality improvements.
  • Supports engineering and quality managers with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.
  • Facilitates cross-functional failure mode root cause investigations and corrective /preventive actions.
  • Analyzes reports and returned products and takes corrective measures.
  • Assist in training new procedures and document the same. Maintain quality records.
  • Generate contract data packages as specified by contract requirements.
  • Statistically track non-conformance in specific process areas.
  • Conduct detailed review and approval of engineering drawings, including fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and associated documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability prior to release to the Authorized Inspector and production.
  • Perform thorough verification of pressure vessel calculations and design packages to ensure compliance with applicable ASME codes.
  • Ensure all designs, drawings, and documentation strictly adhere to customer specifications, project requirements, and contractual obligations before being released to the shop floor and Authorized Inspector.
