About The Position

The ideal candidate for the Quality Engineer role will help strengthen and sustain quality performance in a plastic extrusion manufacturing environment supporting extrusion profile products. The Quality Engineer should be passionate about helping the Company design and improve its quality control systems to meet our customers’ needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Plastics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering, process quality, or quality systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with process controls, inspection methods, nonconformance management, corrective action, and customer complaint resolution.
  • Ability to analyze production and quality data, identify trends, determine root cause, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to work with ERP, database, or quality management systems.
  • Work schedule flexibility, with advance notice, to accommodate the needs of the business.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in plastic extrusion, profile extrusion, or a related plastics manufacturing process.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control, capability studies, MSA/Gage R&R, and basic statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D, CAPA, and PDCA.
  • Experience reading customer specifications, part prints, tolerances, inspection plans, and quality requirements.
  • Customer audits, internal audits, document control, and quality management system requirements.
  • Experience with standard measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, spectrophotometers, and profile measurement systems.
  • AutoCAD or 2D drawing review experience is a plus.
  • Experience using generative AI tools in a business setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and audit process controls for plastic extrusion operations, including critical product and process characteristics for extrusion profile production.
  • Lead investigations for internal nonconformances and customer complaints using structured root cause analysis, containment, corrective action, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Manage customer quality communication, including complaint response, status updates, corrective action reporting, and follow-up to ensure timely closure.
  • Apply the PDCA cycle to drive continuous improvement projects that reduce scrap, rework, variation, and recurring quality issues.
  • Work closely with manufacturing management, supervision, operators, maintenance, tooling, and engineering to resolve process-related quality concerns.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve quality system documentation, control plans, inspection criteria, work instructions, and process-control records.
  • Create, review, maintain, and verify packaging instructions to ensure finished products are packed, labeled, protected, and shipped according to customer and internal quality requirements.
  • Review inspection and production data to identify trends, process drift, recurring defects, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support training of manufacturing personnel on shop floor quality expectations, inspection methods, documentation requirements, and reaction plans.
  • Participate in new product launches, process changes, trials, validations, and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Maintain effective working relationships across departments and perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
