About The Position

We are currently looking for a 2nd shift Quality Engineer for the Flint Assembly QE Group. In this role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for upholding GM's purpose and values and ensuring the safe work practices of all its employees. You will support Flint Assembly in achieving business plan metrics with a focus on attainment of Quality metrics through being the leader in supplier quality and engineering issues that arise at Flint Assembly.

Requirements

  • 3+ years automotive engineering, quality, or manufacturing experience
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Actively looks for opportunities to drive change and continuous improvement with current practices & processes.
  • Exercises independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from Manager.
  • Demonstrated ability to attain results, while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives.
  • Must excel at problem solving – root cause, containment, robust long-term solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Vehicle Components.
  • Familiar with the Metal Stamping Process and Stamping Quality Systems, and Vehicle Assembly Processes.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or manufacturing
  • Proficient use of GSIP, ECM, Excel, PRTS, SPPS, GQTS, Teamcenter, & MPDs and Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Red-X Journeyman / Technical Problem Solving Experience

Responsibilities

  • Issue and maintain Supplier Practical Problem-Solving items for identified Supplier Quality issues as related to QE issues.
  • Work with Production and GM Product Development teams on identification and resolution of engineering issues
  • Help generate unique technical solutions utilizing Seven Diamonds Process, Red X, Voice of the Customer
  • Organize and instruct Flint Assembly Supplier Quality Action Center (SQAC) Team Members for issue containment.
  • Root cause Water Leak, Squeak and Rattle, and Wind Noise issues.
  • Work with Process Engineering and Maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Quickly and effectively communicate Issues to Quality and Plant Leadership
  • Coordinate RMA and reject of scrap
  • Conduct Engineering, Supplier, and BTAB PTRs
  • Become Red X Apprentice within one year of hire
  • Support Launch Teams for all future product
  • Support Saturday Build Schedule
