We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Quality Engineer within our Quality team to help support our Work Furniture business. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by monitoring the quality performance of the supply base, drive improvement in supplier performance and improve our internal processes through continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Five years minimum as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in managing and driving projects.
  • Six Sigma green belt or black belt certification
  • Experience in internal auditing

Responsibilities

  • Managing the quality performance of the supply base by monitoring & reporting PPM performance of key suppliers.
  • Communicating PPAP requirements to suppliers on engineering changes or new products, managing PPAP promise dates and approving supplier PPAPs.
  • Monitoring scrap rates, identifying excellent, moderate and problem suppliers, completing supplier assessments if necessary, developing an improvement plan with suppliers to improve performance, monitoring progress.
  • Assist in the development and approval of incoming inspection plans.
  • Performing internal audits of products and processes, identifying corrective actions and driving completion of the actions.
  • Identifying potential VA/VE projects and working with a cross-functional team to completion.
  • Work to bring internal business processes to an ISO 9000-compliant level and maintain that complaint level through participation in internal auditing and internal documentation development.
