About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Quality Engineer in Madison, Alabama for an approximately four-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support manufacturing and production quality by developing and maintaining inspection, testing, and quality-control processes. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure products meet aerospace and defense quality requirements, investigate nonconformances, and support corrective actions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM, technical, or related discipline with relevant quality experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environment.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting defense contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expert-level experience using mechanical inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, and indicators.
  • Experience with SAP for manufacturing, production, or quality-related transactions.
  • Experience with Net-Inspect for First Article Inspection and/or quality records.
  • Experience identifying quality deficiencies and supporting corrective actions.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical or quality discipline.
  • Quality certifications such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or similar ASQ/AWS credentials.
  • Experience auditing or maintaining quality management systems to AS9100 or equivalent aerospace/defense standards.
  • Experience using statistical methods to analyze quality data and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional manufacturing or production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems.
  • Establish inspection and testing methods for materials, components, and finished products.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure quality standards are properly implemented.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and tests.
  • Analyze inspection and test results to identify nonconforming products or materials.
  • Perform statistical analysis of quality data.
  • Support First Article Inspection activities in accordance with AS9102.
  • Audit quality systems to identify deficiencies and required corrective actions.
  • Verify corrective actions meet applicable reliability and quality requirements.
  • Maintain compliant quality documentation and records.
  • Support product, process, incoming material, production, and reliability quality activities.
