About The Position

Leidos is seeking a talented & skilled Quality Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields. Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions for its customers. Leidos is involved in multiple contracts to provide hardware and systems for high energy weapons, launchers, Hypersonics, radar and emission systems, and target surrogates for several DoD customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of experience or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience in an ISO9001/AS9100 system or equivalent experience in DOD, Aerospace, or Automotive manufacturing quality control. In lieu of a degree, a High school diploma/GED with 10 years of experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with non-conforming material, performing failure analysis, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience writing work instructions, procedures, and implementing Quality Management System (QMS) documentation associated with AS9100.
  • Ability to review and interpret contract quality clauses and technical data and develop and document appropriate quality verification procedures, plans, and work instructions, including AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating within a team environment.
  • Capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Active problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics, CAD models, specifications, and contract quality requirements, and other documents, including review and approval of AS9102 First Article Inspection.
  • Must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the area.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain a final secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Agile practices
  • Experience and working knowledge with Assembly, Integration and Testing
  • Experience in review of Contracts, Statements of Work, Performance Specifications, etc.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Experience in developing PFMEA and PQCT

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical and electrical manufacturing and assembly, integration and testing for aerospace and defense manufacturing.
  • Perform program quality planning.
  • Analyze program Quality Assurance (QA) requirements.
  • Develop inspection/test procedures and process plans.
  • Finalize source inspection checklist.
  • Coordinate review of nonconformance documentation.
  • Support root cause/corrective action.
  • Review AS9102 FAI documentation.
  • Work with DCMA, and other government quality assurance agencies.
  • Collection and reporting of Quality Metrics.
  • Reviewing and approving new drawings.
  • Supporting project managers during design, manufacturing readiness reviews, PDR, CDR, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA.
  • Conducting supplier surveillance audits.
