This position handles major projects, participates in high-level cross-functional teams, and develops inspection and testing processes and procedures. The role involves writing, editing, reviewing, and approving quality-controlled documents. It requires applying strategic decision-making skills to identify performance gaps and establish goals to meet organizational expectations, as well as planning and conducting effective benchmarking and applying lessons learned. The Quality Engineer will identify and champion state-of-the-art world-class concepts in quality business processes and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include performing reliability analyses such as MTBF calculations and FMEAs, and participating in advanced quality planning (e.g., FMEA, QFD, DOE) during design, contract, and process reviews. The role requires applying the theory of statistical variation (e.g., ANOVA, t-test, f-test) and interfacing with sales, engineering customers, and suppliers. Input to the contract review process is expected, along with providing diagnostic research, analyzing data, identifying trends, and suggesting corrective and preventive actions. The Quality Engineer will systematically analyze complex process problems and develop/evaluate alternative solutions. This role may act as Lead Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor for supplier audits, and serves as a technical interface between design engineering, mechanical engineering, purchasing agents, and suppliers. Budget preparation may be required. The position integrates quality and statistical tools with lean manufacturing methodologies and requires effective presentation of information to all company levels. Supervisory responsibility may be included.
