About The Position

Aptiv is seeking a Quality Engineer for its Antaya division. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge applications, develop breakthrough technologies, and deliver innovative solutions to leading automotive brands, contributing to safer, greener, and more connected mobility. The position involves developing and maintaining quality requirements, performing root cause analysis, serving as a quality assurance resource, and acting as a customer liaison for complaints. The engineer will support design development projects, design and implement process control and testing methods, and promote quality standards. Responsibilities also include containment and certification activities, reviewing customer orders and contracts, developing quality reports, assisting with training, reviewing supplier orders, performing audits, and interfacing with supplier and customer quality representatives. The role requires staying updated on quality control trends and participating in training. A strong understanding of automotive industry requirements and tools like IATF 16949 and Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA) is essential, along with adherence to EMS and IATF 16949 policies. Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write technical specifications and reports.
  • Ability to proficiently use various company-related and external systems and databases.
  • Ability to proficiently use computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal/external personnel, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to proficiently operate office technology and equipment (e.g., computer systems).
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Manufacturing Engineering; or closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Familiar with process control quality tools.
  • Familiar with statistical control methods in problem solving.
  • Must have a background and expertise in recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance (i.e., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP).
  • Must have the ability to read and write technical reports and programs.
  • Must have an understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Must be proficient with computers and demonstrated skills in office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of automotive industry requirements and tools, such as IATF 16949, and Core Tools, APQP, FMEA, MSA, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective action using 8D, 5 whys & fishbone diagrams.
  • Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a customer liaison for customer complaints.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
  • Perform containment and certification activities.
  • Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
  • Develop, execute and analyze quality reporting measures.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Assist in training equipment operators or other staff on validation protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Review suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.
  • Perform internal quality system, manufacturing process, and product audits.
  • Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • May compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.
  • Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and industry trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control.
  • Participate in internal and external training programs to maintain knowledge of validation principles.
  • Adhere to EMS and IATF 16949 Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
