About The Position

Vitro's Elkin, NC Automotive Glass plant is looking for a Quality Engineer to join an outstanding local team on their journey to Best-in-Class Quality. The Quality team is very focused on ensuring process control, integrated support from all departments, and metrics that help drive and highlight the team's growth week after week. Our customers deserve the top quality that Vitro offers. It takes the entire site pulling together to ensure that happens. This role will help to lead the initiatives, programs, and customer support tied to product quality. The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Plant Quality Manager and will work closely with the Elkin staff to drive plant results as a team. This position supports and administers activities in the Quality Control Department by accumulating and analyzing quality data of in-process and out-going production. Quality Engineers support the Quality Department with necessary documentation, charts/graphs, and supports customer activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years or more in industrial experience in quality control or related function(s)
  • Aptitude in mathematics and statistics
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to effectively supervise and develop subordinates if necessary
  • Working knowledge of IATF16949 standards
  • Working knowledge of Red X methodologies
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Working knowledge of MiniTab & Microsoft Office software
  • Working knowledge of DFSS
  • Working knowledge of Statistics
  • Working knowledge of Export compliance
  • Good organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining current and long-range quality objectives for the plant.
  • Designing Quality Control Systems and developing improvements for existing systems.
  • Using developed quality standards and technology of the Company with respect to costs, product quality, and customer service.
  • Leading analysis of field complaints, inspecting field returns, and making periodic visits to customer facilities as necessary.
  • Leading all compliance audits required (i.e. IATF16949, CC, InMetro, India BIS, FMVSS, etc.).
  • Managing in-plant Certification testing programs and evaluating results to assist in problem-solving and product improvement in cooperation with the Production Departments.
  • Evaluating borderline quality characteristics and rendering assistance based upon thorough knowledge of product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Determining whether product meets stated requirements, and providing judgment in areas where requirements may not exist.
  • Contributing to the morale of all Quality Control personnel and creating an atmosphere of confidence, mutual trust, and respect.
  • Supporting customer needs and potentially taking on other assignments to support the team's journey to Best in Class.
