About The Position

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for improving the effectiveness of the Quality Management System while providing customer support. The Senior Quality Engineer ensures that the voice of the customer is understood, and systems are in place to control manufacturing processes within a lean environment that will improve customer satisfaction while minimizing non-value-added activity and works to co-ordinate with internal/external suppliers to meet delivery targets with adherence to quality standards. Under the general direction of the Quality Manager this position supervises the quality activities of the Business Unit, ensuring the maintenance of certifications objectives and procedural requirements of Canadian Standards Association (CSA), product certification of Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and compliance with the established Quality System as required by the International Standardization Organization (ISO) 9001-2015 and ISO 17025.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering Science, five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Production, and/or Quality experience.
  • Experience preferably at Electrical/Electronic manufacturing.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English and Spanish languages.
  • Computer literate
  • Strong knowledge of quality control standards, testing methodologies, and industry regulations (e.g., ISO17025, ISO 9001, AS9100)
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent leadership, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and quality management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification in quality control is highly desirable (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective supervision of the assigned Quality personnel in order to achieve that established production goals are met meeting quality standards.
  • Directs the development and/or improvement of quality control methods and processes.
  • Develops and maintains the assigned Business Unit quality plans, testing procedures, workmanship standards, specifications, visual aids, etc. in order to assure compliance with customer requirements, as well as the Hubbell Caribe Limited (“HCL”) certifications: UL, CSA, and ISO.
  • Assures the assigned Business Unit compliance with CSA and ISO material/product identification, traceability, documentation, evaluation, and disposition of non-conforming materials, parts, and/or product.
  • Responsible for the assigned Business Unit quality records retention activities pertaining to inspection and test results, analysis of statistical data, calibration records of measurements and test instruments, QC Holds, Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions, Defective Material Reports (DMR’s) issuance, disposition, and corrective actions, etc.
  • Assists the assigned Business Unit Manager in the gathering, upkeep, and analysis of scrap, rework, sorting, QC Holds, and material returned to supplier data.
  • Formulates recommendations for scrap, rework, and sorting reduction and/or elimination.
  • evaluates, responds, implements corrective actions to resolve customer complaints.
  • assures that the assigned Business Unit personnel, at all levels, are properly trained in the Business Unit manufacturing methods, and quality policies, procedures and practices, as set forth by the “HCL” ISO Quality System requirements, CSA certification, etc.
  • Promotes improvements in the internal customer/supplier relationships and ensures internal compliance to the Quality System requirements.
  • initiates and/or coordinates the development and implementation of corrective actions, and reports status to the Quality Manager and assigned Business Unit Manager.
  • Troubleshoots, modifies repairs, evaluates, and/or recommends the purchase of test equipment and/or inspection tools in order to meet process and/or quality inspection specifications.
  • Recommends to the Quality Manager related capital and annual budgeting needs.
  • Responsible for prudent financial control of quality related expenses.
  • Responsible for the Hubbell Testing Laboratory QMS to comply with ISO 9001 and ISO 1705 including the calibration program.
  • Support manufacturing testing and product validation.
  • Assumes additional duties and responsibilities related as required and assigned.
