About The Position

ASTEMO INDIANA, INC. is seeking a Quality Engineer - New Model to join their Quality Management team. This role involves serving as the primary customer contact for Production Part Approval and new model quality discussions, validating processes and products, leading reviews of documentation, managing change control activities, identifying root causes of issues and implementing corrective actions, reviewing historical quality trends, and developing comprehensive quality documents. Requirements

  • 4 year College Degree in Related Field (ME, EE, IE, etc) or 2 year Degree + 2 years related work experience
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to assist with decisions related to Electro-Mechanical Processes
  • Well organized, attention to detail and able to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills to prepare and present technical information to all levels of management and customers verbally and written.
  • Experience with development of SAP, Control Plans, FMEA’s, Process Operations Standards, etc.
  • Ability to lead projects obtaining the support of multiple departments
  • Analytical skills to understand product and process change points impact.
  • Highly efficient with personal computers and common applications such as Windows, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, MSProject, Minitab.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience automotive industry, with emphasis in electronics
  • Experience dealing with customers or suppliers
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems such as IATF/TS-16949, PPAP, CAPA, NPI (New Product Introduction), APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, etc
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies (acceptance criteria or workmanship for electronic assemblies)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary customer contact for Production Part Approval and new model quality discussions.
  • Validate that processes and resulting products meet all requirements through DOE, quality audits, reliability testing, strain testing, cross‑sections, and related evaluations.
  • Lead reviews of procedures, drawings, and documentation to ensure compliance with all quality requirements, including product, process, and document audits.
  • Manage customer‑facing change control activities, including initial Production Part Approval, New Model Approval and mass production changes.
  • Identify causes of issues and implement corrective actions related to customer mass production complaints, trial units, and new model product/process maturation.
  • Review historical quality trends and past issues to support maturation of new processes and products (e.g., Production PPH, Global PPH feedforward).
  • Develop comprehensive quality documents such as Process Flows, Control Plans, Maturation Plans, PFMEA, E‑Reports, Special Inspection Plans, and customer approval packages.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
