About The Position

We're looking for a Quality Engineer - Metallurgical & Laboratory Operations to support laboratory operations, quality systems, and technical material evaluations for the manufacture and repair of turbine engine components. This role serves as a key technical resource for metallurgy, chemistry, materials characterization, and laboratory quality, supporting production, product development, failure investigations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, materials, or quality environment.
  • Experience with metallurgical analysis, materials characterization, laboratory testing, or analytical chemistry.
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action skills.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, auditing, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and technical requirements.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace manufacturing, MRO, or laboratory experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean certification, or similar.
  • Experience with SEM, optical microscopy, and materials characterization equipment.
  • Metallography, microstructural analysis, and failure investigation experience.
  • Analytical chemistry experience (ICP, IC, titrations, sample preparation).
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, coatings, and heat treatment processes.
  • Proficiency with Minitab, SPC, GR&R, image analysis software, and Excel.
  • Experience with NADCAP, ISO 17025, or AS9100 environments.
  • Technical leadership, mentoring, or project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform metallurgical, chemistry, materials characterization, imaging, and elemental analysis to support production, customer requirements, and root cause investigations.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment, including analytical chemistry instrumentation, optical microscopes, and scanning electron microscopes.
  • Evaluate raw materials and test results to verify compliance with engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Lead and support failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise to manufacturing, engineering, laboratory personnel, customers, and suppliers.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI), process development activities, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Train and mentor laboratory personnel on testing methods, equipment operation, and laboratory best practices.
  • Maintain and improve laboratory procedures, documentation, and quality systems.
  • Monitor laboratory quality metrics and drive operational improvements.
  • Support internal, customer, supplier, and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, accreditation, and quality system requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
