About The Position

The focus of this position is to proactively plan and direct activities concerned with the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products. This role involves performing internal and supplier audits, reviewing and following up on corrective actions, and revising Quality Assurance manuals and procedures. The position also requires updating supplier rating reports, advising management on quality concerns, and serving as the point of contact for customer audits. Additionally, the Quality Engineer II will conduct AS9100 awareness training, perform trending analysis of quality data, facilitate problem-solving and process improvement activities, and develop action plans to achieve site objectives. They will also lead or perform methodologies like 8D, PDCA, and DAMIC, and maintain and support the Quality Management System (AS9100, NADCAP, etc.). Support for the Preliminary Material Review Team (PMRT) and potential supervisory duties for Factory Quality Specialists are also part of the role. Compliance with all Federal, Local, and State government rules, LISI Aerospace regulations, and HSE Procedures is mandatory, including attending all provided training and adhering to HSE procedures, policies, and plans. The employee must report any known or suspected nonconformance and continually seek opportunities to improve HSE performance. Responsibility for complying with ISO 14001 standards is also included. The role requires reporting quality metrics weekly and monthly, preparing various quality performance charts, graphs, and reports, collecting data daily, and creating forms for quality assurance activities. The use of statistical tools for data analysis, recommendations, and process improvement is essential. Collaboration with cross-functional groups like Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing to resolve quality problems and support process improvement projects is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in related discipline and minimum 3 to 7 years directly related experience required and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of special processes, manufacturing methods, metallurgy, design and documentation.
  • Strong drafting skills.

  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Working experience of manufacturing environment procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.
  • Basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Employee is occasionally required to sit; regularly required to walk and/or stand, and to speak and listen.
  • The employee requires eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand movement and manual dexterity use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee must occasionally bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing level within normal/average range.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
  • Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper footwear in specified areas.

  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives.
  • To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Perform internal and supplier audits in accordance with published schedules and procedures or specifications.
  • Review and follow-up on corrective action submittals and closes acceptable corrective actions, escalates to management as necessary any questionable corrective actions.
  • Review engineering drawings for accuracy following QA procedures.
  • Initiate and/or revise Quality Assurance manual, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Update and mail supplier quality and delivery rating reports, as required.
  • Advise the Director of Quality Assurance of any possible quality concerns/ incidents as required.
  • Act as the point of contact and individual who accompanies customers during an audit and provide any requested information and documentation for on-site review.
  • Perform AS9100 awareness training and implements processes as assigned by Management.
  • Perform detailed trending analysis of related quality data identifying top issues in pareto format, and facilitate problem and/or process improvement activities.
  • Develops action plans to reach site objectives.
  • Perform and/or leads 8D, PDCA, DAMIC methodologies across the site.
  • Maintain and support the Quality Management system AS9100, NADCAP, etc…to include: reviews, audits, and training.
  • Support and or lead Preliminary Material Review Team (PMRT) and work actively with team including dispositions as required.
  • May have supervisory and administration duties for Factory Quality Specialists.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Responsibility for complying with ISO 14001 standards, aspects, directives and impact as related to the HSE policy commitments.
  • Reports quality metrics weekly and monthly in association with Batch Rejection Rates, First Pass Yield, rework %, sorted % and scrap %, Management Business Reviews and Process Improvement Teams (APU / APG).
  • Prepares different formats for a variety of quality performance charts, graphs and reports.
  • Collect and report data on a daily basis.
  • Ability to create forms for quality assurance activities.
  • Use statistical tools to analyze data, make appropriate recommendations or decisions, and improve process capability using quality tools such as pareto charts and fishbone diagrams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Engineering, Planning and Manufacturing to resolve quality problems.
  • Support various departments with process improvements projects by using quality performance reports and graphs including pivot tables and rejection/scrap history.
