About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes at the Covestro South Deerfield Site. This position develops and maintains Quality systems used for the production of Thermoplastic Polyurethane and Polycarbonate films and sheets that meet internal Quality standards and Customer requirements. This includes supporting local / global Quality objectives, ensuring the effectiveness of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System at the Covestro South Deerfield Site and improving Quality outcomes using structured problem solving tools to investigate and address Quality problems, issues and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Understand and demonstrate the site's incident workplace culture.
  • Manage minor safety related improvement projects and participate on site safety teams.
  • Capable of Management of Change activities for simple changes.
  • Support NA RTPM responsibilities aligned with Global TPM.
  • Create and complete PPAP (assemble document packet) and maintain PPAP library.
  • Support specifications for raw materials, packaging and films.
  • Create and maintain standard film specifications and PLM related activities.
  • Support medical testing and basic IMDS requests.
  • Support SAC tracking in JTS (post new material set up process - not linked to SAC approval).
  • Prepare and submit Oekotex samples and documentation.
  • Maintain RTPM and QA SharePoint sites.
  • Support SDF Quality Management System for ISO 9001:2015 certification and alignment with Global IMS.
  • Serve on Self-Assessment team to meet annual Compliance requirements.
  • Maintain / update existing Quality documentation.
  • Support QMS processes (Calibration, DCR, NCMR, MRB, Supplier Management (raw materials), etc.) and suggest improvements.
  • Support requests for Customer specifications, PPAP, Quality Survey and other Customer documentation.
  • Provide day to day support to the Internal Customer (Production, Engineering, GQM, GTPM, CO/OM, MM, Innovation) to ensure Quality outcomes at site.
  • Evaluate Quality outcomes on standard issues and suggest improvements.
  • May provide work direction to Quality Technicians, Production employees or Process Technicians in making quality related decisions.
  • Maintain and update Quality documentation (raw material specifications, Production Record Reports, Quality SOP/Work Instructions, etc.) and materials for Quality training activities.
  • Participate in Quality training and support process and product development trials.
  • Provide engineering support to simple projects across product lines.
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Lead smaller continuous improvement teams / efforts at the site.
  • Utilize CI tools in both project and daily work to meet customer expectations.
  • Generate Quality KPI data as assigned and support data analysis.
  • Learn / Apply statistical analysis to determine process and product capability.
  • Apply basic business and economic principles in daily / project work.
  • Develop in role as Voice of the External Customer / Voice of Business.
