About The Position

The Test Technician is responsible for testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and documenting electrical equipment, components, and systems to ensure they meet quality standards, customer requirements, and manufacturer specifications. This role requires a reliable, motivated self starter with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability, careful documentation habits, and a strong commitment to safe, accurate work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment, measurement tools, and test procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and time characteristic curves.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and point to point layouts.
  • Comfort using computers to input, save, and organize test data.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate results.
  • Resourcefulness in locating current and obsolete technical information.
  • Willingness to learn new testing methods, equipment, and procedures.
  • Must be physically capable of maneuvering, moving, and lifting breakers using proper equipment.
  • Must be able to safely position equipment with appropriate lifting and moving devices.
  • Must be able to use precision tools such as calipers.
  • Must be able to accurately transpose between decimals and fractions.
  • Must be free from physical restrictions that limit safe movement, lifting, or equipment handling.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical coursework, vocational training, or an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in testing, quality assurance, electrical work, mechanical work, or breaker repair is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing on products, components, and systems according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Operate testing equipment including primary and secondary injection test sets, multimeters, DLRO testers, Hi Pot testers, meggers, speed test sets, MAC testers, and related tools.
  • Inspect equipment thoroughly to confirm quality standards are met.
  • Interpret time characteristic curves and follow manufacturer specifications to properly adjust breakers.
  • Calibrate testing equipment as needed to maintain accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during testing.
  • Evaluate products and assist with quoting by identifying repair needs or performance concerns.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and point to point layouts.
  • Properly connect and operate breakers, including charge, close, and trip functions.
  • Recognize anti pump and seal in contact functions.
  • Record test results accurately, including measurements, observations, and deviations from expected outcomes.
  • Input, save, and organize test data using computer systems and proper folder structure.
  • Maintain detailed records of testing procedures, results, and issues encountered.
  • Report nonconformities, discrepancies, and testing concerns to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety protocols during testing, equipment handling, lifting, and movement.
  • Maneuver and position equipment safely using proper lifting and moving devices.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, supervisors, and other team members to communicate results and support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to improvements in testing procedures, efficiency, and quality.
  • Other duties, tasks, and work may be assigned.
