Reporting directly to the PDU Production Manager we are currently seeking a Quality Control Test Technician - Electrical for our Dayshift to be based at our Price, UT facility. Position Summary: Perform electrical tests and inspect products using quality methods such as ISO 9000 or Six Sigma Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology plus three years related experience working and testing high voltage electrical distribution equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics and layout diagrams
  • Experience with various hand tools, crimpers, wire strippers, electrical testing equipment
  • Self-motivated and capable of working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely with medium to high voltage testing equipment and three phase power
  • Demonstrated proficiency to achieve high quality test results
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic skills
  • Must be able to read and interpret test data, schematics, electrical diagrams
  • Requires strong interpersonal/customer skills
  • Requires strong computer skills in setting up and testing equipment
  • Must strictly follow electrical safety program using OSHA/UL/MSHA guidelines
  • Must wear protective PPE and take all necessary safety precautions
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts testing on all equipment/product; ensures quality standards are met in accordance with applicable ISO/Six Sigma standards and signs off on end of project QA forms.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Interpret and work from technical assembly prints to wire and install electrical components, switch gears, electrical switches and electronic instruments and devices, such as programmable process controllers (PLCs), data loggers, relays, breakers and other electronic instrumentation equipment used in the manufacture and repair of electrical power stations and equipment to determine quality and reliability standards are met.
  • Performs testing on all transformers, power centers, repaired equipment, any other equipment that requires testing.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Works directly with the Project Manager and customers in final testing of equipment.
  • Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, comes to work on time.
  • Follows and complies with IE Core Values.
  • Follow and comply with IE safety program. Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
  • Complies with OSHA Arc Flash safety standards, always wears appropriate PPE.
