Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated quality-inspection experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a quality control technician or inspector in a manufacturing environment, preferably defense or aerospace.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5.
  • Hands-on experience programming and operating coordinate measuring machines and their associated inspection software.
  • Hands-on experience with portable CMM systems, including articulating measurement arms.
  • Familiarity with handheld 3D scanning systems and point-cloud comparison workflows.
  • Familiarity with overhead optical or infrared dimensional measurement systems for 2D part inspection.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Strong written documentation skills, including First Article Inspection Reports, Non-Conformance Reports, and calibration records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • U.S Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality plans.
  • Verify dimensional and geometric tolerances using precision hand metrology tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, pin gauges, thread gauges, and granite surface plates.
  • Program and operate Zeiss coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) using Zeiss Calypso software to verify part conformance to GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5.
  • Operate portable CMM equipment, including articulating measurement arms, for in-place and large-envelope measurement of fabricated assemblies.
  • Perform handheld 3D scanning inspections using portable scanners and analyze point-cloud data against nominal CAD models to evaluate conformance.
  • Program and operate OGP vision system for high-throughput two-dimensional dimensional inspection of planar parts.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T callouts, and customer quality requirement specifications.
  • Document inspection results, prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102, and generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supplier-quality teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies and improve process capability.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.
