About The Position

The Quality Control Technician - Metrology will support the space program located in Houston, Texas. Responsible for the precision measurement of flight hardware; from Coordinate Measuring Machine programming to first-article inspection.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have an associate degree or equivalent.
  • Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 7+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
  • Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment.
  • Experience with laser tracking/scanning equipment.
  • Experience supporting mechanical assembly verifications.
  • Advanced experience with quality inspection tools.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar) for dimensional and first-article inspections.
  • Perform dimensional verification of incoming materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted products against drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements.
  • Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators) and laser tracking/scanning equipment to verify conformance.
  • Maintain tool control and calibration records; ensure equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
  • Develop and maintain inspection reports; collate test data and draft quality reports.
  • Report quality anomalies to the Quality Supervisor/Engineer and urgently communicate quality, safety, or compliance concerns.
  • Identify and implement improvements to quality control processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
