About The Position

The Quality Control Technician - Manufacturing Inspector will support the space program located in Houston, Texas. Responsible for holding buy-off authority on the production floor, accepting, rejecting, or holding mission-critical hardware at each inspection point.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have an associate degree or equivalent.
  • Must have 3+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 5+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
  • Experience with flight hardware traceability, parts/materials/process control, or mission-critical hardware inspection.
  • Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements and MIP/buy-off documentation practices, including inspection stamp authorization.
  • Familiarity with NASA quality assurance requirements (NPR 8735.2, NASA-STD-8709.22, or NASA-STD-8739 series workmanship standards).
  • Experience supporting root cause analysis or nonconformance documentation (CAPA, MRB).
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • IPC-J-STD-001 certification, ideally with the Space Addendum.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification for cable and wire harness assemblies.
  • Experience with CMM or other dimensional inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process floor inspections at designated Manufacturing Inspection Points (MIPs) per the production traveler, verifying conformance to drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Buy off MIPs once conformance is verified; withhold buy-off and stop the line when nonconformance is identified.
  • Apply NASA workmanship and quality requirements (NASA-STD-8739 series; fastener and torque requirements) on flight and mission-critical hardware.
  • Use precision measurement and inspection equipment appropriate to each MIP's inspection criteria.
  • Document inspection results, buy-off records, and nonconformances in the traveler and QMS in real time.
  • Identify and immediately communicate quality anomalies and process deviations; support containment of affected product.
  • Verify tool control and confirm equipment calibration prior to use.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, FOD-controlled inspection station.
  • Other duties as assigned.
