About The Position

The Quality Control Technician 2 is responsible for ensuring the quality of raw materials, ingredients, in-process sauce, finished sauce, industrial ingredients, and all in-process production by performing laboratory tests, compiling records, analyzing data, and performing Quality Control checks throughout all stages and areas of production and storage. This role is also responsible for supporting the continuous improvement of Quality and plant processes through daily tasks and annual improvement objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM or Food Science Discipline or Associate’s Degree with 3+ years’ experience as a Quality Control Technician or similar role
  • Experience with standard lab equipment (pH, titrations, viscosity, dosing units, extractions, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with collating data and drafting reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma principles
  • PCQI or HACCP certified

Responsibilities

  • Participates in GMP audits, mock recalls and other internal audits as assigned.
  • Performs blending and bottling floor checks to ensure control on non-conforming products.
  • Ensures product and process compliance to company standards and specifications.
  • Performs inspections and enforces all McIlhenny Company standards and policies across all stages of production.
  • Identifies areas for quality control improvement based on daily observations.
  • Investigates and resolves daily Quality and/or Production Issues that impact Quality.
  • Field, Log, Investigate, Track, and Respond to consumer and distributor complaints.
  • Assists with customer visits and regulatory audits.
  • Performs laboratory tests of incoming bulk vinegar, incoming mash and raw materials, in-process sauce, finished sauce, and industrial ingredients to determine physical or chemical properties to ensure compliance with company and, governmental, and agency standards; operates GC/MS and HPLC equipment; performs APC swabbing and environmental monitoring.
  • Maintains proper stocks and supplies of sample materials, sample containers, and technical literature at worksite.
  • Creation of COA’s, CoC’s, and other traceability certification documents.
  • Assists with customer information requests within Quality ticket system.
