About The Position

The Fabrication Quality Control Technician is responsible for supporting quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the fabrication process. This position provides on-site technical expertise to ensure materials, fabrication, welding, testing, and documentation comply with applicable codes, standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements. The successful candidate will possess working knowledge of ASME Section IX and ASME B31.3 and will assist with quality investigations, root cause analysis, and the management of quality documentation throughout the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section IX and ASME B31.3 codes and standards.
  • Experience performing quality inspections within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
  • Ability to determine product conformity based on established specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Proficient in the use of inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Fabrication, welding, pipe fabrication, or pressure vessel manufacturing experience required.
  • Ability to follow all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) policies and procedures.
  • This is a "safety sensitive" position.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Certifications in AWS, ASME, NDE, or related disciplines.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a Quality Inspector in pipe fabrication, structural welding, pressure vessel manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience coordinating NDE activities and reviewing associated documentation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping and documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong work ethic, attendance record, and commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify materials, fabrication, welding, and testing activities to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and company quality requirements.
  • Perform in-process, final, and hold-point inspections throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Verify fabrication layouts, dimensions, and tolerances meet drawing and specification requirements.
  • Inspect welds for compliance with applicable acceptance criteria and identify visible welding defects.
  • Coordinate and oversee non-destructive examination (NDE) activities for ASME B31.3 piping systems, including Radiographic Testing (RT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Hydrostatic Testing.
  • Ensure all inspection, measuring, and test equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and certified.
  • Assist with the investigation, documentation, and corrective actions associated with nonconformance reports (NCRs), customer returns, and field quality issues.
  • Conduct final inspections of completed assemblies and ensure all required documentation is complete prior to shipment, including hydrostatic test records, NDE reports, material certifications, and other quality records.
  • Ensure quality documentation packages are accurate, complete, and submitted in accordance with project schedules and customer requirements.
  • Provide quality-related scheduling input to ensure required inspections, hold points, and subcontracted services are incorporated into production schedules.
  • Perform periodic inspections of lifting equipment, rigging, harnesses, and related safety equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in root cause analysis activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
